Sun Broadband on Ubuntu 10.04

If you are using Sun Broadband Wireless (tested on Huawei E1550) and want it to work on Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx), just install the linux-backports-modules-headers-lucid-generic package and the usb-modeswitch package.

$ sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-headers-lucid-generic usb-modeswitch

After installing, reboot.

Plug in the Sun Broadband. Then, a notification “New Mobile Broadband Connection” should appear. Follow the wizard dialog (you can just click next since the default values should be alright). Then, you should be connected now. Yay!

  2. @Blanc dude di mo mapapagana talaga yan…kelangan mo muna ng wired connection tapos pag may internet kana gawin mo yung naka post na code after nun disconnect kana sa wired network.. try mo na yung sun broad band mo

  3. Thank you so very much for this!!! I have recently installed 9.10 and after a lot of time in trial and error, I finally got my Sun broadband to work. Then I updated to 10.04 and to my surprise, it stopped working! Argh!

    But thanks to your article I’m now typing this reply using my Sun Broadband! Again, thank you, Manong Borap!

  4. The installation worked but I still can’t connect to the ineternet. The problem seems to be from the settings of the mobile broadband. Do I have to put the mobile number? I also do not understand the APN setting. Help,please..
